Who Gave Us the Scepter?
For centuries, human beings have captured animals, locked them up, and turned them into part of our entertainment. We have taken them from one place to another so eager spectators could satisfy their curiosity, photograph them, and sometimes even touch them.
But who decided that we had the right to do that? Who gave us the power to abuse and deprive other animals of their freedom in the name of our supposed superiority?
Although, to be fair, humiliation, pain, and confinement have not always been exclusive to animals.
